Jim Tressel Moves from Gridiron to Government!

Youngstown legend Jim Tressel is trading in the sidelines for the Statehouse! The former YSU president and championship-winning football coach has been tapped by Governor Mike DeWine to be Ohio’s next lieutenant governor. Known for his leadership both on and off the field, Tressel’s playbook now includes workforce development and education—because let’s be honest, who better to rally a team than the guy who brought YSU four national titles?

Youngstown Invests $82.7M in Parks, Safety & Community

Youngstown just got a big boost—$82.7 million from the American Rescue Plan, and it’s already making a difference! Mayor Jamael Tito Brown says the money is being used to fix parks, improve public buildings, make neighborhoods safer, and support kids and seniors. These upgrades mean a better, stronger city for everyone who calls Youngstown home!

A New Grocery Store Opens In Hubbard

Hubbard welcomes a new grocery store, Price Cutter. Located on W. Liberty Street where Save A Lot previously was, this is the first grocery store of its kind in the area and one of the franchise’s first locations in the state. It sells a variety of products with several price options. We had the chance to walk through and chat with the staff who were friendly enough to tell us about how excited everyone was that came in.

One of the oldest buildings in the village, recently under new ownership, brings you an authentic Italian experience with a Louisiana twist. Charity Spotlight

Animal Charity of Ohio

Animal Charity of Ohio is Mahoning County’s only humane society, rescuing and rehabilitating abused and abandoned animals while offering affordable vet services to support their mission. This February, adoption fees are waived for long-term residents like Xavier, a three-year-old survivor who was found freezing and starving but fought his way back to life. Now, he’s ready for a loving home—playful, affectionate, and full of potential. Adopt, donate, or use their vet services to help save more lives!
